What is Rotary ?

1)   Rotary is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.
2)   In more than 160 countries worldwide, approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 30,000 Rotary clubs. Rotary club membership represents a cross-section of the community's business and professional men and women.
3)   The world's Rotary clubs meet weekly and are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds.  The main objective of Rotary is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.
4)   Rotarians develop community service projects that address many of today's most critical issues, such as children at risk, poverty and hunger, the environment, illiteracy, and violence.
5)   They also support programs for youth, educational opportunities and international exchanges for students, teachers, and other professionals, and vocational and career development.
6)   The Rotary motto is Service Above Self.

Senior students are invited to attend.................

The LaSalle and Peru Rotary have invited seniors to attend 1-2 monthly meetings.  The goal is to expose the students to who Rotary is and what they do to benefit the community and the world in the hope that as adults they will choose to become Rotary members and continue providing this service to others.

Guidelines for students attending meetings.....
  • The first meeting (usually in Sept or Oct.) is a group meeting that Ms. Bernabei will attend with the students at the Uptown in LaSalle.
  • Students will then be assigned in groups of 2-4 to attend an additional La Salle Rotary meeting and a Peru Rotary meeting later in the school year. The schedule will be shared with students as soon as it is created.
  • Students must have a signed permission form and a completed student information sheet turned in to Ms. Bernabei by the announced due date.
  • Seniors taking an E2C course are not allowed to attend due to a scheduling conflict.  Rotary and E2C courses meet on the same day/time. All other seniors are eligible to attend unless their grades or behavior indicate that they should not miss class.
  • Students will be be dismissed from class at 11:30 and drive themselves or carpool with another student.  They will return at about 1:15 pm.
  • Students must sign-out in the main office before leaving and sign-in when they return.
  • Students who cannot attend on their scheduled date must switch or find a replacement from the other students on the schedule. Please notify Ms. Bernabei asap after making a switch.  Students are responsible to find their own replacement if they cannot attend on the original date they chose.
  • Students are responsible to let their teacher know at least 2 days before they will be missing class to attend a Rotary meeting and they are responsible for all class work they miss according to that teachers instructions.
  • Students attending a Rotary meeting must follow the school dress code schedule that is required for that day.
